RESERVE REPLACEMENT, EXPLORATION STRATEGY AND UPSTREAM CAPITAL INVESTMENT IN ALGERIA
Summary
This intelligence note assesses Algeria's reserve replacement strategy, upstream exploration portfolio, and capital investment landscape in the context of accelerating global gas demand, EU energy-security post-2022, the energy transition, and intensifying LNG competition headed into the second half of the 2020s. The analysis benchmarks Algeria against Africa's benchmark gas producers Nigeria, Egypt, Mozambique, Senegal and Libya and frames the conclusions for the central stakeholders: Sonatrach, Algeria's Ministry of Energy & Mining and ALNAFT, international oil companies (IOCs), development finance institutions (DFIs), and the European governments buying Algerian molecules.
